SAMUEL JIMÉNEZ COLLAZOS

VIOLIN

Born in Colombia, violinist Samuel Jiménez Collazos holds degrees from Conservatorio del Tolima (Colombia) and Musik Akademie Basel.

​

Awarded prizes in numerous competitions, Samuel has been praised by the critics as a sensitive violinist, who delivers his expressive ideas with technical ease. Some of these awards include the first prize at the Frank Preuss International Violin Competition and the “Premio de Interpretación para Jóvenes Solistas” in Bogotá.

​

As soloist, Samuel has performed in Colombia, Chile, Germany and Switzerland, with orchestras such as Bogotá Philharmonic Orchestra, Cali Philharmonic Orchestra and Camerata Franconia.

​

Interested in orchestral works from a young age, Samuel started his orchestral career at fifteen years old, and has now nearly eight years of experience as concertmaster. He has led important youth orchestras in Colombia for consecutive seasons, such as the Colombian Youth Philharmonic and the Bogotá Youth Philharmonic and has been guest concertmaster in Chile and at the Tenerife Opera in Spain.

He continues to broaden his education at the Musik Akademie Basel under Raphael Oleg and his orchestral experience and repertoire as a member of the academy 2020/2022 of Opernhaus Zürich.

​

​Samuel is member of the Opalio Quintet since 2020.
